1. Early SpringA pre-emergent herbicide is applied for effective control of annual grasses (crabgrass, foxtail, etc.) before they germinate. We blend our own fertilizer mix for your lawn's early spring feeding. Broadleaf weed controls are added as soil temperatures increase.2. Late SpringFertilizer is again blended for your lawn's growing needs. Broadleaf weed controls are applied as needed to eliminate unsightly pests such as dandelions and clover. A general insecticide is added to control many lawn damaging insects.3. SummerA summer...

This application is made before the grub worms begin doing damage in the fall. The product is designed to keep grub worm populations in your lawn to a tolerable level, thus minimizing and in most cases eliminating damage to your lawn.

An aeration will reduce compaction to increase water flow, air penetration, and root development in your lawn. Also, it will aid in thatch control. We recommend having your lawn aerated every three to five years for best results.

A renovation includes, depending on the needs of your lawn, either having us multi-aerate the lawn and then broadcast seed over it or slice-seed the lawn. We will evaluate your lawn's needs and then make the proper recommendations that we believe will restore your lawn to its full and healthy state that you will be satisfied with.

If you are ever dissatisfied with the results of any of our services or applications after following our professional recommendations, we will work with you to your satisfaction or refund the cost of that application.

How long should I wait to walk on the grass after an application?

We recommend you wait until the grass dries. This usually takes about an hour and a half to two hours. ...Read More

You will need to wait 24 hours so the product can make its way into the roots of the plant and is no longer above the surface of the soil. ...Read More

Contrary to popular belief, a light rain after the application is actually good for the effectiveness of the application. When it rains, the pores of the plant (both weed and grass) open up and soak in the weed control and fertilizer more quickly. However, if it's raining too hard, the weed control... ...Read More

Keeping your blades at their highest setting will give you the best results. Crab grass, weeds, and other undesirable plants require an abundance of sunlight to grow.  By keeping your blades at their highest level, you will give shade to the soil level which prevents those plants from growing... ...Read More

We recommend that you don't bag grass clippings. Grass clippings will decompose and return moisture and fertilizer to the lawn. ...Read More

There are two other helpful tips. First, keep your blade(s) sharp. Just like you don't want to shave with a dull razor, you don't want to mow with a dull blade. A clean cut across the lawn will make your lawn less susceptible to disease and give it a greener appearance. Second, avoid mowing during... ...Read More

The best times of the year to put seed down are early spring and early fall. Those seasons generally have cooler temperatures that allow the seed to grow better. Keeping your seeded area(s) watered consistently is the key to success. ...Read More

Initial Watering - The first watering should be heavy, wetting the soil to a depth of 6-8 inches.  This will allow developing roots to better penetrate the soil.  Daily waterings will also be more effective with a heavy initial watering.  Care should be taken to not allow runoff.  The First Three... ...Read More

Air temperature, ground temperature, available moisture and sunlight affect the germination times of seeds.  Most rye and fescue seeds will germinate in 7-14 days.  Kentucky bluegrasses germinate in 20-35 days.  All seeds applied to your lawn by Cragen Lawn Care are perennial. ...Read More

Seeded areas with existing grass can be mowed as needed, after the initial watering (as described in the FAQ, "Once my seed is down, how much water does it need?").  Do not let clippings accumulate on the lawn, as smothering of new seedlings may occur. ...Read More
